William Hooper was a son of Thomas and Unity Hooper of Hanover County, Virginia. William was born before 1761, lived in Hanover County, Virginia at least from 1782 to 1800, and died before 8 October 1808 in Fayette County, Kentucky. He left a wife Mary, and children:

Thomas, (died unmarried)
daughter (probably born before 1787,married Mr. Overstreet)
William (married Nancy Ellis)
Judith (married George B. Didlake), and
Sarah (married John W. Taylor)
