Clemmons C. Hooper

Deed from Macon County, NC

This page supplements information contained in the article "Whatever happened ... to the District 14 Hoopers" on pages 13-16 of Volume 1, Hooper Compass. Clemmons C. Hooper seems to have sold his land claims in NC just prior to his move to Alabama. Parentage of this Clemmons C. Hooper is yet unknown, but he seems certain to be a nephew of the older Clemmons S. "Boonie" Hooper, Sr. who lived in Pendleton District, SC in 1800, in southwestern NC in 1804, in 1830 in Cocke County, TN, and in Haywood/Jackson County, NC from 1840 until his death.

Macon County, NC. Register of Deeds. Record of Deeds, 1837-1840, Deed Book B, page 545. (transcription by A C Goodwin from LDS film #0548814). The same deed was recorded again, with the same wording but slightly different spellings, on page 551 on 4 October 1838. Spelling and capitalization match the original.
